Holly Springs holds its fireworks on July 5 at Sugg Farm; in 2026 the show began at 9:15 p.m. Updated each year when the town posts the next year's plans.
Last checked Oct. 11, 2026. Updated each year. The 2027 details are not out yet, so this page describes the 2026 celebration from the town’s Independence Day Celebration page.
Holly Springs celebrates Independence Day a day late on purpose. The town’s free July 5 Independence Day Celebration at Sugg Farm, 2401 Grigsby Ave., is billed as “a second day for the USA,” with live music, food trucks, games and fireworks. In 2026 it ran from 6 to 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 5, with the fireworks at 9:15 p.m., weather permitting, and it opened the town’s yearlong 150th anniversary celebration.

Parking and getting out
The Sugg Farm parking areas hold about 3,000 vehicles and in past years have filled an hour before the fireworks, the town said; once they are full, cars are not let into the park. Parking on neighborhood streets next to Sugg Farm is prohibited. The town encouraged carpooling and walking in on trails, sidewalks and greenways, though the Carl G. Dean Greenway near Sugg Farm closed at 8:45 p.m. before the show.
- Drop-off: at the event field; drivers leave by Teal Lake Drive.
- Pickup: Womble Park, 1201 Grigsby Ave., is the recommended meeting spot.
- Leaving: about 20 minutes after the show, as walkers clear, all lanes open outbound. Exits are Blooming Meadows Road to Stinson Avenue; Grigsby Avenue to Main Street and Holly Springs Road or N.C. 55; and Teal Lake Drive to N.C. 55.
Fireworks at home: the law
North Carolina allows only a narrow set of consumer fireworks: sparklers and hand-held or ground-based sparkling devices that do not explode, spin or leave the ground, under the state’s pyrotechnics law. Firecrackers, bottle rockets, Roman candles and other aerial fireworks need a permit. Sparklers are banned at the town’s own celebration.
What to expect in 2027
The town posts each year’s details on the same Independence Day page, and in 2026 asked residents to fill out a feedback survey to shape future celebrations. We will update this page when the 2027 date and times are announced.
What this means for you
- Plan for July 5, not July 4, in Holly Springs.
- Arrive early: the lots have filled an hour before the show.
- Leave aerial fireworks to the town’s show; they are illegal at home without a permit.
