1. North Carolina newspaper notices
North Carolina law still requires many notices to run in a newspaper. The North Carolina Press Association’s ncnotices.com compiles public notices published in North Carolina newspapers and is free to search. That is where to look for foreclosures, estate notices to creditors, construction bids and assumed business names in Wake County.
2. Town of Holly Springs
Public hearings. The Town Council holds hearings at its 7 p.m. meetings in the second-floor Council Chambers of Town Hall, 128 S. Main St. Development hearings are listed on the town’s public hearings page. As listed there on Oct. 11:
- Tuesday, Oct. 20, Town Council: a quasi-judicial hearing on the Chandler Crossing development plan (26-DP-01); decisions on the Daventry rezoning (25-REZ-05) and the town’s three-year housing affordability action plan.
- Tuesday, Oct. 27, Planning Board: recommendation on the Twin Springs rezoning (25-REZ-10).
- Tuesday, Nov. 17, Town Council: decision on the Twin Springs rezoning.
- Date to be set: the 2420 Avent Ferry Road rezoning (25-REZ-08).
To speak in person, sign up with the town clerk before the meeting begins, or between 3 and 5 p.m. that day at Town Hall. Written testimony goes through the town’s public hearing participation form by 5 p.m. the Monday before. In a quasi-judicial hearing the council may consider only sworn, factual testimony.
Bids. The town’s bids page lists a request for qualifications for master planning a 25-acre town park at 7300 Woods Creek Road, the Carolina Springs Park, due at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4. Bids for the Main Street sidewalk connector closed Oct. 1.
Records. The Town Clerk’s Office keeps the town’s official records, including scanned records back to 1909. Request them through the public records page; inspecting records or getting them electronically is free.
3. Wake County
Wake County Board of Commissioners agendas and hearing notices are on its Legistar calendar. Election notices, including early voting sites, are on the Board of Elections site; see our voting guide. Deeds, marriage licenses and vital records are at the Wake County Register of Deeds, 919-856-5460.
