Labor Day weekend outdoors

  • Bass Lake Park, 900 Bass Lake Road, 8 a.m. to sunset. Labor Day is the last day of the boat rental season: canoes and jon boats at $10 an hour and motorized Gheenoe boats at $15 an hour, according to the town’s boating and fishing page. There is no swimming.
  • Sugg Farm, 2401 Grigsby Ave., 7 a.m. to sunset, with the off-leash dog park and the nature play area. See dog-friendly Holly Springs.
  • Greenways: the paved 1.3-mile Carl Dean Greenway links Womble Park and Bass Lake Park. Routes and distances: walking and biking trails.

Events after Labor Day (2026 details)

The town’s fall calendar starts soon after the holiday. In 2026 it included:

  • Canine-Con, a free morning for dogs and their owners at Sugg Farm, 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, 2026, with local rescues, food trucks and a free rabies and microchip clinic, according to the Canine-Con page.
