Hollemans Crossroads is a rural crossroads on Avent Ferry Road west of Holly Springs, with Rex Road and Bartley Holleman Road nearby and Harris Lake to the west. OpenStreetMap marks it as a named place, and the town’s Land Use and Character Plan names “Holleman’s Crossroads” as the site of one of three National Register buildings in the town’s planning area. It is rural: we found only 17 residential addresses within about two-thirds of a mile. Most are in unincorporated Wake County and use New Hill mailing addresses in ZIP code 27562; a few use Holly Springs and 27540.

Where it is

The crossroads is about 5.7 miles by road west of downtown Holly Springs. The plan lists the Samuel Bartley Holleman House, 3424 Avent Ferry Road, a two-story Colonial Revival house from about 1911, on the National Register since Jan. 30, 2008, and a local historic landmark. Its inventory of local historic places also lists Collins Grove Baptist Church, 3400 Avent Ferry Road, from about 1900, which it calls eligible for the National Register, and the 1930s Collins Store at 3504 Bartley Holleman Road. Town or county? Of those 17 addresses, on the Census Bureau’s TIGERweb map, 16 were in unincorporated Wake County and one, on River Ledge Drive, was inside Holly Springs. In 2026, homes outside town pay Wake County’s 53.71 cents per $100 of value plus a 12.25-cent fire district tax instead of the town’s 34.35 cents, according to the county’s table of tax rates. What is changing: the town says a 7-acre public park near Avent Ferry and Rex roads is tied to “the recently rezoned Village at Harris Lake development,” below.

Schools

The area is in the Wake County Public School System. All eight addresses we checked in the district’s base school lookup for 2026-27 were zoned for Rex Road Elementary and Holly Grove Middle, both on year-round calendars. Six, on Bartley Holleman Road, River Ledge Drive, Avent Ferry Road and one stretch of Rex Road, were zoned for Holly Springs High. Two others on Rex Road, at 5608 and 5617, were zoned for Fuquay-Varina High. The line crosses Rex Road, so check your own address.

Parks and trails

• Harris Lake County Park, 2112 County Park Drive, New Hill, is about 1.2 miles from the crossroads. The 680-acre Wake County park on the Shearon Harris Reservoir has hiking and mountain bike trails, disc golf, fishing, boating and playgrounds, and is open 8 a.m. to sunset. Parts are closed for construction; the park’s number is 919-387-4342.
• The town’s park near Avent Ferry and Rex roads will be the town’s first park dedicated by a developer. The town says it will focus on natural features, with natural-surface trails, a gazebo, an open lawn and a tot-lot playground under consideration.
